About
Hermes Agent Guide is an independent, third-party guide to Hermes Agent, the open-source personal AI agent by Nous Research. We are not affiliated with Nous Research; we are users who got tired of learning the same tricks twice and wrote them down.
Every command, path and configuration name on this site is checked against the project's current documentation and our own running installations before we publish. When the software changes, pages get updated — and when we are not sure, we say so instead of guessing.
Our editorial rules: no invented features, no fake benchmarks, no paid placements. Where a competitor does something better, our comparisons say so in plain words.
What that means in practice: commands shown on this site were run on real machines — Linux, macOS and Windows alike — before they were written down. Quirks that survive into print (a Windows keybinding, a config file that rejects a BOM) are ones we hit ourselves and verified against the project's documentation. Features we have not used hands-on are labeled as documented-but-untested rather than presented as experience.
The guide is deliberately opinionated about sequence: install, connect a model, run a first task — and only then the power features. Tutorials that front-load every option produce readers who finish nothing.
